Used Bookstores Thriving

A recent article in The Washington Post discussess the resurgence of used  bookstores across the nation. With the closing of Borders a few years ago, here in Monterey County we have to rely our used bookstores for our reading needs.

How do our used bookstores stack up? I’ll be posting information on each one in the coming weeks, so stay tuned (and hit that follow button). The vision is for this blog to point local book lovers to the books they want to buy. If a new book on photography is being released by one of our many talented authors, I want to tell them where to buy locally in addition to Amazon.

The Post article has some good points. Nothing beats a browsing experience for finding what the article calls “serious serendipitous” finds. I never knew how fascinated I would become with architecture until I visited a bookstore near a coffee shop I was at.

Let’s find out what the bookstore environment is like in Monterey County and make it easier for authors and readers to find what they’re looking for.
