The Stuff Cure by Betty Sproule

Once a month, Cibo does an informational talk and networking meeting called Pizza, Pasta and Professionals run by Wendy Brickman of Brickman Marketing.   I  attended the most recent event, which featured local author Betty Sproule.  Her book, the Stuff Cure, advocates getting rid of clutter to regain control of your life. During the talk, Betty advised us to only keep things that are currently functional and lose anything we haven’t actively used in the past two years. She recommended only keeping items because they are valuable if they with have a resale value of $500 or more. She also asked us to list our sentimental items and keep only those items with outrageously sentimental value.

She said to create an Unstuffing Staging Area. Put things you want to get rid of and keep them there for a week or two. Aim to get rid of 10 to 30% of excess in the beginning.

Anytime you bring something new into your house, throw something out.

There are a lot of used clothing shops that donate to charity in our area, as well as consignment shops which share the profit with you. It’s also worth investigating online companies such as 1-800-Got-Junk.

She is available to give talks at your event.

Book available on Amazon and Kindle.
