News about the Monterey Writes blog

Blog Updates:

As we welcome the new year, I’ll be making changes to the blog. You can see some of the changes if you’ve been following the blog.

We are now a website with our own url. This will let us make customized changes to the website.

We are now an Amazon affiliate and earn advertising fees on any purchase you make through the link. This will help fund the Monterey Writes project, and if we’re successful, will also help sell some local books!

The purpose of the blog is to promote local works and also help sell books through local venues so I’ll be updating the blogs to include that information and also begin fulfilling orders directly through the site in the near future.

Also in the works is our first local book event. Look for that to happen in early 2017…

The most important update is that I’ll be removing some information from the blogs. After posting several blogs, I found that some authors have agreements with promoters so that no one else is allowed to write about their works, while others allow it but have to approve it.  I will be contacting as many as I can (where contact information is available),  to ask how they want to be listed and to find out about any events they are participating in to promote their book(s). If I’m not able to contact any of the authors on my list, I’ll remove the blog for the benefit of the author to ensure I’m not violating any agreement they may have with promoters.

Also, someone suggested that I should include who is blogging so I’ll be updating the blog with my profile.

I’ll be adding local authors’ blogs as well as Monterey County bloggers.

Finally, I’ll be taking steps to promote the blog offline. This ties into the local book events coming soon.

I hope you’re excited about the changes.
